Matlab for Data Analysis and Calibration

Short Course Description

Matlab for Data Analysis is an online short course designed to teach techniques in Matlab for analysis of data such as experimental, model output and calibration of control algorithms. 

Learn how to import data from sources such as Excel, Inca and text files, how to manipulate the data using filtering, complex calculations and integration and how to work with multi-dimensional data tables for use in control calibration.

Basic knowledge of  Matlab, specifically basic Matlab command line operations and programming is required.

Goals

Upon completion of this short course, students will gain skills in:

  • Data organization and export 
  • Manipulation of multi-dimensional data

Faculty

shawn midlam-mohlerShawn Midlam-Mohler is an assistant professor of practice within Ohio State’s Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department, an associate fellow at Ohio State’s Center for Automotive Research, and a licensed professional engineer. 

His primary research field is in the area of advanced automotive powertrain systems with a focus on energy efficiency and emissions control. His 
teaching interests include specialty courses related to automotive topics and senior capstone design. He is also the lead advisor of Ohio State’s EcoCAR team. Beyond the field of automotive technology, he has a broader interest in the topic of sustainable energy.
